AOC Valais
shiraz rocks – rough around the edges
Why is this wine from the Valais called “Shiraz” and not “Syrah”, as is customary in the Valais? It’s simple: this Shiraz is influenced by my apprenticeship years in Australia in the early 90s. Here, I was allowed to participate in the development of what was then a completely new type of Shiraz, which then went around the world. Of course, Eyers Rock is missing from the Valais Alps. But this single-varietal Shiraz rocks all the more – with rough edges, spicy and powerful. The dry and hot altitudes in the Valais shape its character.
